Along with world acclaimed tenor Javier Camarena, she starred as Elvira in Bellini’s I Puritani with the Opera de Bellas Artes in Mexico City. They sang together again in the “Stars of the operatic sky” gala concert for the 60th edition of the Litomysl Smetanova Festival in Czech Republic with the PKF –Prague Philharmonia conducted by Leoš Svárovsky. 

Leticia has sung on many occasions with legendary tenor Jose Carreras and as part of his world tour “A life in music”, she has also sung with star tenor Ramon Vargas in concerts including the concert gala celebration for his 35th Anniversary as a singer. More recently they sang in Verdi’s Un ballo in maschere with the Sofia Opera and Ballet in Bulgaria. She made an outstanding tour in France in 2019 singing the main role in Alberto Ginastera’s shocking opera Beatrix Cenci in Strasbourg and Mulhouse with the Opéra National du Rhin Orchestra and Chorus conducted by Marko Letonja. It was the national premiere of this opera in France and it was awarded “best lyrical performance” of the year. 

She was also widely lauded as Lucia in Donizetti’s thrilling Lucia di Lammermoor in Manaus, Brazil with the Amazon Philharmonic Orchestra and in Montevideo, Uruguay as Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto with the Montevideo Philharmonic Orchestra. Her recordings include the “Opera Prima” CD/DVD by Universal Music and Canal 22, and as soprano soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Queretaro State Philharmonic Orchestra.

Leticia currently resides in Queretaro, Queretao, Mexico where she continues to perform and teach private lessons for aspiring musicians.

Leticia de Altamirano made her opera debut in 2007 at the Bellas Artes Opera Palace in Mexico City as Soeur Constance in Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmelites in a Teatro del Colon production. Since then she has starred in that theatre as Marie in Donizetti’s La Fille du Règiment, Violetta Valery in La Traviata, Micaela in Carmen, Musetta in La Boheme, Gilda in Rigoletto, as Euridice, la Musica, la Speranza in ĹOrfeo by Monteverdi/ Maderna, as well as oratorio and concert presentations. In Mexico’s national premiere of Hector Berlioz’s Beatrice et Benedict, she sang the role of Héro with the Mineria Symphony Orchestra conducted by Carlos Miguel Prieto. More recently she sang an outstanding Konstanze in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail at the Teatro del Bicentenario in Guanajuato, Mexico with the Camerata de Coahuila conducted by Antoni Ros-Marbà. 

Leticia was recognized by CONACULTA (National Council for Culture and the Arts) as “Voice of the Mexican Bicentennial”. She is currently one of Mexico’s most important female opera singers. She has sung at important massive events such as the 2010 Bicentennial anniversary of Mexican Independence held at the Zocalo (Mexico’s main plaza) with over 80,000 people present and live streaming on national and international TV. She has participated in many international cultural festivals including the Amazon Cultural Festival, Ars Mondo in France, Festival Cervantino, Liber Festival, 5 de Mayo Cultural Festival, the Baroque International Music Festival, Mexico’s Festival del Centro Histórico, Festival Alfonso Ortiz Tirado, among many others.
